Make Picnic Party Decor with your Cricut Explore

Written by: | Published: August 16, 2014 | Updated: November 29, 2016

I think picnics are the perfect way to celebrate with someone special. It's not just about grabbing a basket with yummy lunch, it's about creating an opportunity to make some memories. Whether it's time spent with your honey or the whole family, picnics are a great way to get out of the house and enjoy an afternoon together. And, because I love to add extra little details to every day occasions, I decided to design picnic accessories that could be used for a romantic picnic date or a fun family feast at the park. Today I'm sharing a fun list of things you can make for your next picnic. All these goodies in the basket below, I made with my Cricut Explore and I'm sharing those projects so you can make them too! (Plus a couple yummy recipes I think you'll love).

When I first thought of designing a picnic set, I knew I wanted to do something simple. I also wanted to add a twist of something we might not always think of when we think PICNIC. So, I took a little inspiration from asian design and combined it with bit of country chic flare. It's all in the cut shapes and the materials you use to create your pieces. You can create a look that is all your own, completely changing the style, by simply changing the colors of the cardstock you use to make these picnic projects. I'll show you how!

Over this last week or so I've been talking about bits and pieces of this set. I started with the Picnic Invitations because I love them so. They use both Cricut's cutting and drawing capabities, and you KNOW how much I love to watch this machine draw! I also shared a tutorial to make your own Chinese Take Out Boxes and Picnic Lanterns and don't forget those delicious Chicken Salad Sandwiches with Cashews and Sprouts! Put all that together along with the fabulous picnic labels and extra accessories I'm sharing here today and you'll have yourself a fancy little picnic party in no time! Before you're through, make sure to whip up a batch of Pineapple Angel Food Cake Parfaits – you're going to love them!

Let's get started created with your Cricut!

First up is Food.

Head over to the Cricut Design Space and make both the Picnic Labels. You can use these to make drink wrappers and sandwich wrappers. You can add labels to all your yummy picnic food, just grab some twine and tie them on.

Next create these fun Chinese take out boxes and fill them all kinds of tasty treats. Each box can be cut big enough to all kinds of snacks like fresh cherries, delicious sushi rolls and tropical trail mix.

Add pretty decor accents.

Complete the place setting with accents that show off your eye for detail. Create utensil pockets with your Cricut. Then, wrap individual sets of utensils with color coordinated napkins and place them in each utensil pocket.

To finish off the decor, make pretty little asian inspired lanterns. You can add battery operated candles to each lantern and make the setting magical!

Don't forget to invite all your favorite people!

I've even created an invitation you can use to invite all those special guests to your picnic. This is my favorite part of the whole set. Even the illustration is created with your Cricut explore!

    • Oh I know how that goes! Only so many crafty toys in the house! Check out the Design Space information and account stuffs.. maybe he will agree to upgrade for Christmas. The older machine don’t work with this newer library – and in the new library you can either purchase individual images (instead of a whole cartridge) or you can subscribe for (9.99 a month and have access to over 25,000 images at any time! OR, find a way to make things with your Cricut and sell them… and the machine will pay for itself 😀
