Oh My goodness, today I have a whole pile of DIY handmade costumes to share with you. I’ve joined in a giant Halloween Costume Blog Hop with over 80 handmade costumes! I created a Raccoon Costume and Free printable mask kit.

Over 80 craft bloggers created handmade costumes for Halloween and are sharing instructions and fun extras so you can make your favorite costumes for kids and adults. WOW, that’s a ton of Halloween fun, don’t you think?

My daughter was so excited to wear this costume. Once she put it on, she couldn’t stop spinning and dancing around. I wasn’t even able to get a photo of her because she was having so much fun!

To make the raccoon costume, we upcycled one of Dad’s old sweaters to make this sweater dress. We found another sweater at the thrift store that we used to make the leg warmers (just cut off the sleeves and voila! leg warmers!). The tail is also part of the same leg warmer sweater. I sewed a little channel through it so the belt could slip through – easy peazy! Then I created a mask that you can print and make too. See below for the free printable file you can download.

This raccoon costume kit comes with two different masks, ears you can add to a headband, then little extra accessories including a heart, candy and two fur bracelettes. To make these pieces I just printed the designs onto fabric transfer paper, ironed on to felt and then cut out. The felt makes the costume pieces more durable. You can also print on to paper and use that way.
