Angry Birds bookmarks and ID tags DIY craft

Written by: | Published: August 06, 2012 | Updated: June 05, 2017

I just spotted a box of Cheese Nips crackers featuring the Angry Birds characters and had to buy it. We love cheese crackers, but the DIY project potential of popular characters already printed on cardboard… it’s just beggin’ for some scissors a little creativity to get involved. School is starting soon, so I thought a back-to-school craft would be a great way to go. This is an easy project you are your kiddos can do to help personalize their backpacks, lunch boxes, jackets, whatever else they’re taking to school featuring their favorite Angry birds characters.

I have a supply cabinet of eyelets, corner cutters, laminent and ribbon, but you could make these same fun tags with just some scissors, a hole punch, ribbon or yarn and if you want, some kind of laminent or clear coat varnish. I almost forgot to take pictures of the Cheese Nips before I cut it up into parts… I was so excited to make such a quick project. Usually I get overly creative and complicate my projects, so when I thought of working on this one I nearly forgot to pull out the camera.

Make your own Angry Birds bookmarks and ID Tags

  1. Cut out the different characters from the Cheese Nip Box
  2. Round the corners
  3. Write your child’s ID info on the ID tags
  4. Laminate (I use an Xyron machine)
  5. Add an eyelet or punch a hole with a hole punch
  6. Add a ribbon
  7. Attach to whatever item you’d like or use as a bookmark.

My son was SO excited to make these ID tags. We made enough to put on his backpack, lunch box and even his jacket (attach it like a ski lift ticket, on the zipper pull). Laminating should help them last for the entire school year and although you could simply use a hole punch, adding an eyelet with strengthen the hole, again to last longer. You can duplicate this project with any kind of character art you might have. Make sure you are using a thick cardboard for an extra sturdy tag. For bookmarks you don’t need to add the ribbon, I just like to add it because it feels more like an  official bookmark. I’m sure there’s no  bookmark police, just go with it.
