College Care Packages – Ideas of what to send

Written by: | Published: August 25, 2015 | Updated: August 25, 2015

College Care Packages are one of my favorite goodie boxes to send. You can fill them with all kinds of treats and fun unexpected items to let your college student know you are thinking of them. Money is usually tight for those college kids, so you can send even a small little box with a few things and they will love the surprise and extra happiness! College Care Packages

There are so many fun things college care package ideas you can put together. Grab your student’s favorite treats, a few essential every day items and some extra little notes to say I and remind them you love them… then you’re good to go! Here a few things to consider

  1. Every day items – Include your student might need every day. Items that need to be regularly replaced make for excellent care package items. Disposable razors, tooth brushes and pens or post-it notes are a great place to start. Other items to think about adding: shaving cream, soap, laundry supplies or gift cards for food retailers.
  2. Extra treats – snacks and candies your college student loves but might not buy themselves are yummy extras they are sure to love. Include things like gum, hard candies and pre-packaged snacks like granola bars and pre-made pudding. Gift cards come in hand for this too, think of Amazon, Starbucks and iTunes to name a few.
  3. Reminders of home – notes from the family, hand-drawn pictures from siblings and printed pictures also make great add-ins for your care package list. You could create a handmade card and have everyone in the family add in a little note. You can also add fun family pictures with messages written on them. Include some removable wall adhesive and your college student can easily display their photos around their dorm room.
  4. Make your care packages pretty. I think there is something magical about opening presents, so put your college care packages together like a gift from home. Add tissue paper or colorful packing material inside the box and then add stickers or doodles to the box exterior. Even the boys like gifts and surprises, so don’t be afraid to add a little glitter to add extra fun!

We went shopping at Walmart for College Essentials before we sent my oldest off to college last week. We picked up some Schick Hydro® 5 Razors and I’m including them in his care package too. He’s got a bit of a mustache growing these days – disposable razors are always a good essential to include. A college man can never look too good!
