Easy DIY Fresh Fruit Fall Centerpiece

Written by: | Published: November 23, 2019 | Updated: January 16, 2023

You don’t need to spend hours setting up your fall or Thanksgiving table. You can create a beautiful center piece in under 30 minutes, you just need some colorful accents and a great central piece. Today I’m going to show you how to make a pretty Fresh Fruit Fall Centerpiece. This is such an easy Thankgiving decor idea, I’m telling you, you don’t need much. You just need a great tray to hold the fruit and then pick the prettiest produce you can find at your local grocer.

This is a sponsored post for Wayfair, the opinions and tutorial are all my own. Thank you Wayfair! We already ate the pears ourselves!

Wayfair invited me to join their Fall Centerpiece challenge. They sent me a couple pretty wood and iron serving trays the rest of the creativity was up to me. I think simple is best when decorating and color can carry most of the magic you might be looking for in your holiday decor.

Creating a center piece is like creating a central piece of art for your table. Think about color, texture and focal point to create a kind of 3D painting your guests can enjoy. Let’s get started!

Head to the grocery store and pick up all kinds of fruit and flowers plus a few bags of 11 bean soup (sometimes it’s 15 bean soup, depending on the brand). You can easily create this set up too, you can replace any of the items I’ve used with your own favorites. If you can’t find some of these things, no worries, just find a different option you like.

Materials you need

  • Rustic Wood Sheet Pan by Front of the House
  • Tall glass vase
  • Dried beans – variety pack (11 or 15 bean soup is a great combo)
  • Pears in a variety of colors
  • Pinecones
  • Fresh Cranberries
  • Small leafy branches or twigs
  • Baby’s breath flowers or other tiny flower buds
  • Dried flower petals
  • White or cream colored candles
  • Mason jars

Instructions

  1. Fill the vase 3/4 with beans. Add in a candle and then fill in with beans.
  2. Set up the table cloth and other table fabric accents. I put down a table runner and then a contrasting placemat under the tray. I also added in some sparkly ribbon on top of the table color, for a bit of extra festive bling.
  3. Place the serving tray in the middle of the table, where ever you’d like to present it.
  4. Place vase in the center of the tray.
  5. Place pears around the vase on the tray. I used 8 pears for this size tray.
  6. Place pinecones around tray, on top of the pears.
  7. Add in cranberries to fill in any spaces. The cranberries can can be on try tray, on top of pears and pinecones… use them as filler.
  8. Cut small sprigs of the Baby’s Breath flowers and place them around, in between cracks. Don’t use too many, they are just a small color accent.
  9. Place leafy branches on either side of the tray.

Optionally, sprinkle some dried flower petals near the center piece. This will pull color from the tray down the table and add some extra color “texture” to your table.

For extra decorative accents, I used mason jars full of beans with a small votive candle. I placed these candles around the tray. I also added cranberries to little white bowls to place near the centerpiece… this helped to pull out the red.

I hope you enjoy making your own Fall Fruit Center Piece! Remember to grab your own Rustic Wood sheet pan (love it!). Don’t be afraid to change things up to use things you already have on hand. Replace the pears for apples or small squash. Use scraps of fabric or ribbon to add extra color accents. Get creative and have some fun! I’d love to hear what you create!
