PicsArt Photo Editing App for iPhone

Written by: | Published: March 20, 2015 | Updated: April 27, 2015

I don’t usually do a ton of fancy editing with my photos. I like to get in good shots with interesting angles. However, every now and then it’s fun to play with collages or add some doodling to an image before I share it. I have a bunch of different apps I toy around with, but I’m always looking for something new to try. Last week I was searching the App Store and came across PicsArt and it’s a load of fun!

The first thing that makes PicsArt different is the ability to draw right inside the app. Traditional photo editing apps include photo editing tools. Things like color correction, fun photo filters and interesting frames. Adding in a real draw tool is really unique, AND these drawing options are pretty in depth. You can choose your brush style and event edit those options. Now this isn’t going to compete as a professional drawing tool like Tayasui Sketches, however it is a pretty handy feature with good options.

Pro vs Free – PicsArt has a number of upgrades you can choose to purchase. The free version includes a continual ad along the bottom of the app display. For $5.99 you can remove the ad completely. I don’t mind the ads and I’m cheap.. so I’m still using the free version. You can also purchase clipart as well as more frames and collage templates to include in your photos, each for .99. The app by itself comes with so many features, to add more is like sprinkles on your cupcake!

The “shop” option also includes freebie extras, so don’t be shy and hide away from the shop button. You’ll find some hidden treasures in there.

PicsArt has many, many, Many options! The interface takes a little bit of getting used to and I think the learning curve is fairly high. But once you play around with it, I think the need for multiple apps to use for editing a single image, will decrease drastically.

Here are just some of the things Pics Art can do

  • Filters
  • Cropping
  • Shape masks
  • Borders and frames
  • Collage templates
  • Speech bubbles
  • Adding text
  • Resize
  • Rotate
  • Cloning, skretch and motion
  • Drawing on photos
  • FX effects
  • Layers
  • Using images from multiple sources including the photo library,  Instagram, g+ and more
  • So Much More…!

Plus PicsArt includes a community you can connect with to share your photos. I am not connected.. but it’s a great feature if you’re looking for a community to share creative inspiration and ideas with.

Download PicsArt from the Apple App Store.

Have you tried PicsArt? What do you think?
