How I decorated my front porch for Halloween

I always think I’ll do something crazy fun and new and then I do the same Halloween lights and ghost balloons. So, this year I thought it would be fun to do something a little different. I decided to dress up the candy bucket and include it in my front porch decor. I’ve partnered with Oriental Trading, Cricut and some amazing bloggers to share Halloween decor ideas with you today.

Let’s get making, shall we?

The Products I used

To created this entire look, you don’t need a ton of supplies. Eyeballs are the theme – because they are fun and not-so-spooky! I love Halloween eyeball decor (remember the OREO eyeballs?). Now, thanks to OTC I now have a giant bag of eyeball stickers. Everything I used to decorate my front porch for Halloween came from either Oriental Trading or my own Cricut machine creativity. My favorite thing about this set up is it doesn’t take a ton of time to make and is super easy to clean up. Plus, the materials I used from OTC include enough supplies for a little extra Halloween fun… like cupcakes or class party fun.

Materials you need to create this Halloween front porch look

  • Small, inflatable white beachballs
  • Bag of eyeball stickers
  • Glow in the dark spiderweb
  • Black party table cloth
  • Black netting
  • Eyeball frisbees

How To Decorate your Front Porch with Not-so-spooky eyeballs

I’m a big fan of eyeball decor at Halloween. It’s not super spooky, but can be just creepy enough to make my kids ask why there are eyeballs everywhere. So for this front porch idea, we’re going simple… eyeballs everywhere!

This fantastic bag of eyeball stickers is from Oriental Trading. And I LOVE it.. almost endless eyeballs! There are all kinds of different eyeball designs in two different sizes… enough to cover your door or 5. You just peel off the backing and stick the eyes where you’d like. To make it easy to clean up later, and add some extra Halloween fun, I started with a black plastic party tablecloth on the front door and covered that with stickers. I could have added a ton more stickers, but my son kept telling me the door was creepy (isn’t it supposed to be creepy?).

Then I added black netting from one side of the front door across to the other side of the porch and along the wall. I cut the netting at the door opening – so we could open the door. Then  I added glow in the dark spiderweb to both sides of the porch. The eyeball stickers work really well on both of these surfaces. Again, just peel and stick!

If you want even bigger eyeballs, OTC carries a great party bag full of mini frisbees with a variety of eyeball designs. You can stick these to the netting or web by backing the frisbees with a piece of duct tape.

Now let’s make some mini beachball eyeballs!  They are super cute and just as easy to make. Just blow up the ball (ordered white balls only, but different colors might be fun too) and stick one of the circle eyeball stickers to the center of the ball. If you want to stack the balls, use some double sided tape to attach them together.

Don’t forget to make your Jack-o-lanterns! The final touch, before adding the candy bowl display is adding some pumpkins. You can create your own cute jack-o-lanterns without ever cutting a single pumpkin. Check out my tutorial and free SVG cut file to learn how to make your own vinyl decorated jack-o-lanterns. Don’t forget to set the size of the face cutouts for the size of the pumpkin you want to decorate.

Add the pumpkins and beachball eyeballs to your Halloween front porch decor. I added mine by the chair displaying the candy bucket. To keep everything in place, a little double sided tape comes in handy.

How to Make a Halloween Front Porch Candy Bucket Sign

You can make this Halloween candy bucket sign in no time with your Cricut machine and a free SVG cut file I’ve designed for you. You can customize the wording on the sign if you’d like and even change all the colors. Check out the tutorial below to learn how. I used a combination of colored cardstock, textured craft foam and vinyl to create all the cut pieces of my sign. You change out the materials to use something you have on hand or using your favorite craft supplies. If you love using fabric, you can use the Cricut Maker to cut out a fabric version as well.

IDEA – One change – In my version of this sign I used black, orange and purple for the arrow. I would change the orange to white – or add another layer to include white so the arrow shows up better at night or with a black light.

Once you have your Halloween candy bucket sign created, grab your candy bucket and set up the rest of the display.  have an old chair on my front porch all year so it’s weathered and worn and perfect for Halloween. I set the candy bucket on this chair and set the candy sign next to the chair, attaching it in the back (I used duct tape of course).

Don’t forget the candy!

Oriental Trading also has eyeball themed candy. found some individually wrapped marshmallow candies and some jawbreaker type hard eyeball candies. Both fun and come in good sized bags.

For even more spook-a-licious decorating, add a blacklight!

I made a point to choose items that featured mostly white as far as color of decor goes. This is because I wanted the decorations to stand out with a blacklight at night. Use bright, fluorescent colors or white for the best look. Check out how our porch turned out at night…
