Gothic Halloween Party Decor DIY

Written by: | Published: October 10, 2017 | Updated: September 14, 2022

Classic black and white is a perfect color combo for a Gothic Halloween Party Decor theme. I love the black and white Halloween look and I love decorating for Halloween. Even if you don’t like scary, this elegant style Halloween style adds just enough Halloween for spooky fun… You can make these projects and grunge it up a bit for a more vintage gothic look if you’d like.

Cut Halloween decor pieces using your Cricut machine. You can reuse images to create your Halloween party theme.

Before I go into detail, here’s a list of the Gothic Halloween party decor project tutorials I have for you:

I designed a crow, bat and spiderwebs along with a big spiderweb ball that I used to make a hanging bat center piece. I also used the bats in wall decor, to decorate a candle vase and as tiny cupcake toppers. I think a party invitation featuring the bat or the crow would be pretty cool too.

Here are some detailed shots of the different projects I created using my Cricut Machine.

You can quickly make these fun bat and raven cupcake toppers with two cut files and some toothpicks. I’ve created a Cricut Design Space canvas, all ready to go. You can find it here. The cupcakes feature a basic white frosting and black decorations to keep the clean black and white theme going.

I used the same bats from the cupcake toppers and glued them to paper straws. I like the small straw decorations, but you could cut them a little larger if you prefer. Paper straws are the key, they are really easy to glue items to, just make sure to glue the decoration far enough down that little mouths aren’t sucking on glue.

I cut the decorative bats and solid bats out of home decor vinyl to make this Halloween candle vase. Removing all the little swirl details does take some patience, but once all the details are cut out, the end result is gorgeous, don’t you think? I love how this candle vase turned out! I think it would also work really well on a shorter vase, so the candlelight can glow through the bat designs.

Gothic Halloween Wall Decor And Spiderweb Garland

To make wall art, you just need a classic black frame and a great design to cut out of card stock. Each of these designs, I created and saved as SVG files. Once I had them cut, I just glued them to a white cardstock background and then framed.

It takes 5 times longer to cut than to assemble – that’s my kind of project! (Unless I have to cut the art by hand… can you imagine? That would have taken forever!). I have the Bat and Raven shadows available as free SVG files, the fancy cuts I’ll share soon too!

I hope I’ve inspired you to create some fun projects for Halloween. The black and white theme is so easy to have fun with, add a splash of color or keep it simple. Add a few vintage pieces and the gothic Halloween party decor look will start to emerge.

What will you make for Halloween?

    • Thank you so much Petra! The ball is really cool when it’s finished, but I think the garland is definitely more useful for overall decorating. Thanks so much for the note!

  1. The spiderweb garland is one of my favorite Cricut Designs I’ve seen so far, such a clever idea and I love that you can custom make it to the size you want! Good Luck!
