I love to garden, planting flowers and veggies and watching them grow. The last few years I haven't been able to spend the time I want outside. Instead I've been busy either traveling or inside drawing and designing projects. This year I am determined to spend some time making my gardens pretty. I want to plant more flowers, get some fresh vegetables growing and maybe even a few strawberries.
This tulip plant has been in my yard for at least 8 years. I planted bulbs shortly after we moved in however most have stopped coming back. This one sits right by the front door step so I see it everyone time I come or go. There's been many years the local wild rabbit family has gotten to the bloom before I have, so when I saw it open the other day, I had to get a picture before it got eaten!
One year, to help prevent the rabbits from turning my tulips into their own all-you-can-eat buffet, I decided to try out a few homemade animal repellants. The store bought variety smell HORRIBLE and never seem to wash off – don't even ask what's in them!). The best solution I found was combining paprika and garlic and sprinkling the mix on everything. The only side effect… the entire yard smells like Italian food.
I can't wait for the warm weather to stay so I can play outside! Do you have a garden?
