I’ve partnered with Oriental Trading Company today to share gingerbread man holiday party ideas you can set up easily. Customize the look with your own DIY accents and personal touches. You can change up the colors a bit to get a whole new look too… I like the light blue and red together, but candy colors or brown/white/red are both great color combinations to try.
Check out all the holiday party supplies you can get from Oriental Trading Company. There’s even more holiday ideas below, keep reading.

Here’s the short list of what you need to host a great Gingerbread man holiday party.

  1. Start with a Background
  2. Add some accents
  3. Craft supplies aren’t just for crafts
  4. DIY Gingerbread man party activities
  5. Don’t forget the treats
  6. More party treat ideas

Let’s get ready to have a party!

Start with a background

I like to use disposable tablecloths as backdrops for my party displays. They are inexpensive and come in a variety of bright, bold colors. For this setup, I used both light blue and white tablecloths that i then cut into 2″ strips so the colors could both show through a bit.

I used the same tablecloth colors and added some streamers to decorate the table top for this party display. I set out a blue tablecloth and then added a white cloth folded and bunched for a little extra texture. I love layering to create a look. I think layering tablecloths and streamers and sometimes gift wrap can help you create all kinds of themes. Just change a color or pattern and you have yourself a new look.

Plastic tablecloth tip: Plastic tablecloths always unfold retaining the fold creases. To take attention off of these creases, bunch the tablecloth or add multiple colors together.

Add some accents

Paper fans, cute gingerbread man garland and some DIY gingerbread man art accents add color to your party. Look for decor items that compliment not only your art theme, but also your color scheme. Plates, napkins, straws… they can all add to your decor theme while adding some function to your party pieces.

Craft supplies aren’t just for crafts

I like to use supplies for multiple things. So decor supplies like streamers and tablecloths I might use in DIY projects for my party. I also like to use craft supplies to create decor. Take a look at these fun gingerbread man foam stickers. You can set up a couple activities with these stickers but also use them to make a garland, decorate your straws or even add to your party invitations.

DIY Gingerbread man party activities

Every party needs 3 things… people, food and fun. Here are some ideas you create to add a little more fun to your party.

Don’t forget the treats

I found some super cute gingerbread man lollipops at Oriental Trading Company too. Almost too cute to eat! Put these in a jar full of peppermint candies and you have yourself a mini holiday bouquet.

I think these lollipops are my favorite find. They look like little clay decorations but you get to eat them… so cute!

I also picked up a clear cake tray as my centerpiece treat display. I added a pretty, scalloped tray on top so that the gingerbread man cupcake toppers would stand out a little more. You could also add decorative papers or paper doilies to the cake plate to add more decor accents with your food setup.

Party treat ideas:

I’ll share some treat recipes with you later. I like to go with food that is yummy and fun to look at. I think fun food adds to the decor without having to over-decorate. Here are some of the party treats we created:

  • Spiced cupcakes with caramel maple glaze
  • Chocolate cupcakes with an easy white frosting drizzle
  • Cake-mix cookies decorated with chocolate melts and holiday sprinkles
  • Mini chocolate powdered sugar bites
  • Oatmeal nut cookies with fudge drizzle

We didn’t have any gingerbread cookies on our treat table. Instead we use them as our cookie decorating cookie. Food crafts are the best!

See the cute treat napkins I found?  OTC has some cute gingerbread party accents. You can even set up a candy bar to coordinate with the candy art in this theme.. how fun would that be!?

I also found a darling apron, perfect for our cookie decorating day.

Easy party ideas

I’m all about combining ready-made with DIY. There’s no reason to spend countless hours prepping or making – I think we need to save some of that time to enjoy what we’ve created. So sometimes I’ll buy base pieces and then personalize them – like the white fans or streamers. I’ll also buy treats and then add frosting and sprinkles to spruce them up and incorporate the theme. I hope you’ve found some inspiration in these Gingerbread Man Holiday Party Ideas. You don’t have to make every single piece of your gingerbread man party from scratch. Buy some staple pieces you can use and customize with your own creative ideas.
