DIY Slide Bracelet Components from Cousin

Written by: | Published: April 08, 2013 | Updated: August 10, 2015

This week I’m reviewing a new product line from Cousin along with other members of the Designer Craft Connection. Cousin is a family owned jewelry supply company. They are offering a new slide bracelet line that is absolutely fabulous! Even if you feel like you aren’t very creative or artistic, you can easily make your own beautiful bracelets with these products! Cousin sent me a variety of components to try out, so today I’ll show you some of the pieces.

Keep reading and at the end of this post you will find more creative inspiration using Cousin projects by more great designers.

There are a lot of great pieces available in this line. I really like the leather band bracelet style, but you can also find beautiful slides to fit the metal bracelets. They are not, however, interchangeable. The leather band pieces are designed specifically with a rectangular slide to fit the rectangular shape of the band. They fit nice and snug, but still loose enough to “slide” along the  bracelet.

Making your own custom bracelet

Each part of this bracelet I was able to select and add as I wanted. They come in sets that are pre-coordinated, but you don’t have to put them together the same way.

Materials:

  • Cousin slide bracelet components and leather band
  • e6000 glue

Steps to make your bracelet

  1. Start off with a leather band that comes with 2 rubber stoppers. I removed the stoppers because I like the idea of the slide pieces being able to move.
  2. Then select various slide components and added them in the order you’d like.
  3. Once the components are added, add glue inside the cup of each end piece and add to the end of the leather band. Allow to dry overnight.

That’s it!

The Cousin slide bracelet jewelry line is available at Joann Stores.

You can add your own creative touch and use this product line to compliment other jewelry work you are doing or, just use as is. I love the idea that non-jewelry making pros can use these products to create beautiful pieces in very little time!

I really love this product line, it’s easy to use, making it simple for the non-designer to create fabulous DIY jewelry pieces. My favorite pieces is the dragonfly I used in this bracelet. I found it in the jewelry component aisle at Joann Fabrics and it came with a little flower too, but I like the look of the basic slides and the single dragonfly. Keep in mind, once you add the end clasp pieces, you can’t change out the slides on the leather bracelet styles — unless, of course, you want to remove the clasp and re-glue it later. That said, you can change out the slides on the metal bracelets as long as you don’t glue anything in place.
