Creating clouds of inspiration a DIY project idea

Written by: | Published: March 17, 2014 | Updated: May 25, 2017

Let’s create a little creative challenge, shall we? Using the color WHITE, make something fun. I love white – it’s the open door to all kinds of creative possibility. Whether you are a painter or a writer or a home decorator, white is the canvas you start with and I love the whole beginning of making something awesome. Usually I never know where that white will take me… but today I have an idea I can share.

Can I just tell you.. it’s really hard to get a good photo when everything is white! These art pieces are white cardstock with pretty cut out shapes and then embellished with a silver marker, I Love to Create Beads in a Bottle and sparkly crystal gems. So cool, but so darn hard to get a photo that really shows off how pretty they are!

I really wanted to use everything and couldn’t decide. So today I’m just sharing part of my project. I started by designing pretty cloud and inspiration word art cut outs that you will be able to use with the Cricut Design Space. Oh yes I did! You’ll be able to cut out and create your own pretty little inspiration cloud projects. I’m thinking a mobile or art on the ceiling would be awesome. I’ll share more when the cutting files are available. But for now, I’ll share some pretty photos, I love how these designs turned out! What do you think?

The coolest part about this project. The entire design (except for the pretty crystal gems and glitter liquid beads from iLovetoCreate) is created on the new Cricut Machine. The cut out AND the word art AND the swirls on the clouds…. all created with the Cricut Explore! Hopefully soon I’ll have this available for you to make too.

Update! You can now make these clouds with your own Cricut machine, click to Make it Now in Design Space.

  1. Will these be available? How are you cutting the stars inside the cloud? I am new to this Cricut and I am having a ton of trouble with every time I go to cut I am having to re position everything on my cutting mat because it is not how I designed it in my CCR. Unsure if I am wanting to much from the machine or if it is just me the user. Lol

    • YES! The clouds are now available (and they use the silver pen that comes with the machine). I haven’t tried using projects I designed in CCR in the new Design space… I’m so sorry you’re having problems with it. I can tell you, the issues you are having are probably partially software and partially a learning curve. Design Space is a whole new platform, so there are going to be some kinks transition the projects from one to another. I struggled with it a bit myself, but the more I use the software the easier it is becoming. The Cricut team is also doing an amazing job of addressing bugs as they come up. I hope you are finding it a bit more fun by now!
