5 Quick Chili Meal Ideas

Written by: | Published: October 05, 2015 | Updated: October 12, 2015

Busy families need good meals that are quick to make and yummy to eat. Chili is one of my favorite family goto meals. So when I was asked to review the new Progresso chili flavors I joined right in. We love Progresso soups, so I was sure the chili was going to be good. I was right, it’s pretty darn tasty!

This new product comes in a plastic pouch, which threw me off at first. You know, I’m an aluminum can girl.. I buy food and then craft with the packaging. But this is some good chili even without the can AND the bottom of the package is clear so you can actually see the chili. Neat!

Did you know – October is also Chili Month? Oh Yes, so now we have football, candy corn and CHILI… YUM!

The New Progresso Chili is easy to open and simple to store in pantry. I found mine at Super Target on the top shelf in the soup aisle, right above the canned Progresso soups. I picked up all three flavors and immediately had the hubs and my son try the Veggie flavor. Double thumbs up! My favorite feature in this new packaging is the clear bottom. You can see what the product looks like – you don’t get that from a can!

Progresso Chili and Stew are available nationally in the soup aisle and have a suggested retail price of $4.49 per 20-ounce chili pouch. I picked up mine for $399 and $3.90. 5 Quick Chili Meal Ideas

Chili is so versatile. There are a ton of different flavor combinations, you can add all kinds of toppings and it’s filling enough to be a meal all by itself. Here are 5 ideas of how you can use chili in your meal planning. The Progresso Pouch chili can be poured into a bowl and microwaved for a 1 and it’s ready to eat! (heat on the stove if you prefer).

  1. Chili night – basic chili in a bowl, topped with cheese and then eat it up. This is our usual M.O. – no frills, just good food.
  2. Chili Dogs – cook up your favorite hot dogs, put them in a bun and top with your favorite flavor of chili and finish off with some cheese.
  3. Chili Mac – cook up some mac n cheese, mix in your favorite flavor of chili and voila!
  4. Chili Bar – cook up a batch of chili and then place as the main entree in a buffet of toppings. You family (or party guests) can make their own favorite combination of chili flavors.
  5. Chili Nachos – Place tortilla chips on a plate, top with chili, cheese, lettuce, sour cream and a little guacamole.

What’s New with Progresso Chili?

New Progresso Roasted Vegetable Chili with 3 Beans is a meat-free option (we tried this one first) includes tomatoes, carrots, roasted corn, red and green bell and poblano peppers and onions; and pinto, black and dark red kidney beans. YUM! The other two flavors available include Smokehouse Pork and Beef Chili with Beans and Southwest Style White Chicken Chili with Beans. All delicious.

Don’t forget – Chili is also a great choice for football Sundays! Maybe chili can be more fun than the game… Progresso has the scoop!
