When disposable diapers end up in the washing machine

before you get all grossed out, my 2.5 year old is mostly potty trained. She wears a pull up at night “just in case” but is 99% of the time dry. She is, however, in charge of changing into big girl pants all by herself. This is where the problem begins. Just like the rest of the clothing that is stripped off to be replaced by some other funky outfit, the pull ups often times end up on the floor, in the pile of dirty clothes.

We’re working on this problem. Trying to teach my daughter how to put her clothes away in the proper locations. Needless to say, it doesn’t happen… thus a Pullup (those disposable diaper-like training paints) ended up in the washer this morning. This is what the aftermath looks like:

When disosable diapers get stuck in the wash

Little chunks of water filled gel like substance… everywhere! Looks like one of those water babies just threw up all over our freshly washed clothing. I’d say I’m thankful I caught it before it hit the dryer, but how could I have missed it?

This is one great example why I loath housework. It’s not a simple task list I can just tackle and mark off as I complete items.  I can’t seem to get any one thing accomplished just as I envision it. That theory of “visualize your success” doesn’t happen around here because everything else visualizes their own success and the overlapping results collide into big icky messes like this.

I spent the better portion of an hour shaking and patting water gel off of every individual item, running the washer to rid it of pullup residue and starting all over. Now, hours later, the newly wet, clean laundry is still in the washing machine hoping I’ll remember to put it in the dryer before the old wet mold smell of 3 day old clean laundry hits.

I think I’ll get on that, before I forget and tackle the next half finished project of the day.

I feel the same about never seeming to check off house work. Sawyer takes out everything & is everywhere. Dirk calls him “Sawyer the Destroyer”and he truly is. I am so glad I am not the only one who feels like it takes forever to clean the house.
