Oh Cake Mix Cookies how we love you so! have you ever tried making cookies using cake mix? This is the super easy cake mix cookies recipe I use all the time. We love making cookies from scratch. I rarely buy the pre-made mixes or ready-to-bake dough, but making cookies from cake mix is a quick, semi-homemade option.

Easy Cake Mix Cookies

These cake-mix cookies take hardly any time and the kids LOVE that they can make the cookies themselves! You can whip up a whole bunch of different kinds of cookies depending on what flavor of cake mix you choose AND you can even make some fancy decorative cookies with this dough.

Cake Mix Cookies are Great for Beginners

One of the best things about Cake Mix Cookies, besides how easy they are to make, is that they hold their shape really well. The dough it a little like a sugar cookie. You can cut it and shape it and flatten it. You can make ball-shaped cookies or flat cookies to decorate them.

The trick is to mix the dough and set it in the refrigerator for about an hour before you start working with it. The dough will be a little sticky, so you do need to work fast, but it’s a great dough to use, especially with kids and their short attention spans.

    • Yes! The chocolate tastes like bites of chocolate cake. You’ll be missing the fluffy cake, to the texture might throw you off a little, but they are pretty good. We’ve also tried red velvet cake, also good.
