Quick and easy handmade gift bags and tags

Written by: | Published: November 25, 2011 | Updated: August 07, 2022

One of my favorite things about gift giving is the wrapping. I’ve always felt that the time spent wrapping is as important as the time spend picking out the gift… it’s part of the gift itself. So creating hand-made gift bags and tags is a great addition to your gift giving tradition.

You can easily make your own handmade or hand-decorated gift bags and tags by using a variety of coordinated papers and embellishments. Add your own buttons, stamps, stickers, ribbons and special cut outs to plain baby bags to create a unique look for your gift wrapping. You don’t have to worry about exact measurements nor fancy artistic touches, combining pre-made flowers with paper squares and snowflake stamps, I’ve created a simple to make decorated bag in no time!

If you stick with the same papers and embellishment accessories, only using a few colors in the theme, you can easily create gift tags that coordinate nicely with your handmade gift bags. I used the same paper on the bags that I used to make my blank gift tags which I decorated using the same pieces and accessories for both bags and tags.

You make your own handmade gift tags, you just need to cut out a blank gift tag from any thick card stock or paper and then glue on the accessories you wish to include. Use scraps from your gift bag creations, or make something entirely new. Making sure colors coordinate is sometimes tough, but if you by a paper pack instead of individual paper sheets, the colors are sure to blend well together.
